About Rose McLachlan

Early experiences with friends and family with learning disabilities inspired a passion that has remained with me throughout my life, and a desire to support students with learning disabilities academically as well as socially and emotionally. I completed a B.A. in psychology and sociology at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where I also dabbled in math, physics and special education. I then spent several years working with Howard Eaton at the Eaton Learning Centre, which gave me experience in psycho-educational assessment as well as a better understanding of the needs of students with learning disabilities. My experience as Eaton Learning Centre’s assessment manager made for a natural transition to assessment manager at Eaton Arrowsmith (EA). In 2008, I joined the staff at EA and had the pleasure of working one-on-one with each new student to guide them through the initial Arrowsmith assessment. In 2009 and 2010, I returned to UBC to study human development, learning and culture, and received a Master of Education degree. I was particularly interested in learning about the interactions between social and emotional learning, mindfulness and learning disabilities. I entered my role as Admissions Director at EA in 2010, and in August of 2012 I transitioned to the role of Admissions Director for the Eaton Arrowsmith family of schools. In my current role as Eaton Arrowsmith’s Registrar and Operations Officer, I work with our Admissions & Registration Team to welcome new students and families into all of our Eaton Arrowsmith and Eaton Arrowsmith Adults schools and programs. I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know new students and their families and to introduce them to our amazing in-person and online schools, knowing that all new students will be welcomed wholeheartedly by students and staff into a warm, caring, and supportive environment. I also enjoy creating, maintaining, and improving the systems that support our schools. In my spare time, I love camping and hiking, dancing, photography, traveling, sewing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
