About Rosine Riera

Marine geologist and sedimentologist with experience from both research and industry in- rock and sediment description (petrographic and stereo microscopes, field and core logging)- seismic and field stratigraphy (O&G reservoirs, overburden assessment, geological ground model), and - seafloor characterization (GIS mapping, geohazard assessment, marine geomorphology) I have a MSc degree in Sedimentology/O&G exploration from UniLaSalle and a PhD degree in Geology/Carbonate sedimentology from the University of Western Australia During my PhD, I investigated the paleo-environmental changes that led to the formation of a km-long seismic reef along the Australian NWS during the middle Miocene. I am still involved in several research projects related to:(1) fossil and modern reefs and;(2) the assessment of past environmental conditions along continental shelves. Since I joined NGI in early 2020, I have extended my area of expertise to the characterization of the seafloor and shallow subsurface. I am particularly interested in automated seafloor mapping workflows, marine geohazard assessments, offshore wind projects and carbon capture and storage.
