About Ruth Muko

With a background in architecture and a passion for storytelling, my career has woven through design, hospitality, and advocacy — each step rooted in community and care. Currently, I’m proud to serve as the Project Coordinator for the Women’s RISE Project at Positively UK, supporting women living with HIV through initiatives that centre empowerment, visibility, and lived experience. Previously, as General Manager at Black Sheep Coffee, I led high-performing teams and improved operational excellence, health and safety, and customer experience at the Balham branch. My leadership was defined by fostering a supportive, inclusive environment that brought out the best in people. At Chiva, I deepened my commitment to voice and representation — working as both an Oral Historian Interviewer and Media & Communications Executive to preserve vital narratives in partnership with the British Library Sound Archives. This work amplified stories that are often overlooked, especially within medical and social care contexts. From architecture to oral history to community-led health, I bring creativity, coordination, and communication to every role I hold — always striving to build spaces (physical or emotional) where people feel heard, supported, and connected.
