About Ruth Sovronsky

As a New York attorney, my reputation as an accomplished legal writer defined my career. My written and communication skills proved invaluable tools as a grant writer with the Classical Theatre of Harlem. Years of experience as a passionate advocate and story teller led to successful grant awards, including the prestigious Outstanding New American Play Award from the National Endowment for the Arts. A relocation to Connecticut in 2010 presented me with the uniquely golden opportunity to broaden my horizons and explore my long-standing interest in the non-profit sector. I was very lucky to find my "space" in development, cultivating the philanthropic environment essential to every nonprofit. In each of my careers, I devoted the time and care necessary to initiate and nurture effective collaborative relationships, and learned that change is not as scary as I once thought. Change is an opportunity for regrowth, renewal and regeneration. As one with a deep love of music and belief in the power of art to initiate positive change, my position as Director of Development for the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, fulfills a lifelong dream to work with an arts organization dedicated to enhancing and serving its community. The evolution of my career path is a testament to my optimism, willingness to embrace new challenges, and the desire to learn from people and experiences."Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality." Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland "Science is going to get us out of this, but art is going to get us through this." Mo Willems
