I spent my 23rd summer inside 22-inch diameter pipes cleaning junk out of them. This was my incentive to stay in school. My 48th winter was spent teaching people how to ride a snowboard which taught me a lot about human persistence and resilience. On a Saturday afternoon, I stood in aisle 24 at The Home Depot helping a dad and his 20-something son - the son had just bought a house - layout parts and instruct on how to build a gate for a fence that needed one. I help people believe in themselves. A former boss told me that “we never see managers who can engage a team like you can”. Three months later, that boss told me they didn’t need me anymore. I went out and made it on my own helping organizations improve their engagement. One organization saw a 7-point increase in their engagement in a single year (unprecedented for them). A restaurant group saw a 10% increase in the number of engaged employees in one year. I was introduced as “The fun speaker” at a banking compliance conference - it was a banking compliance conference. If you set the bar low enough, you can step right over it. I’m a coach, a teacher, a webinar runner, and a brand evangelist. I’m passionate about what makes people love or hate what they do. I believe that everybody should love Monday just like Friday but for a different reason, and I know how to make it happen for you. I have three kids, Amy (a 3rd-grade teacher), Lauren (an account manager for a fashion wholesaler), and Brady (a chef). I have a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a master’s degree in business. I hike and mountain bike. I have the same vocal coach as John Mayer, Tony Robbins and Eminem. I’ve been interviewed on live television across the United States.
