About Ryan MacEy Wise

I am currently employed as a full-time professor of developmental psychology and quantitative methods at Istanbul Bilgi University, a private university located in Istanbul, Turkey, and a Global Top 500 university. After having received my Ph.D. from Syracuse University, where my research focused on grandparent-grandchild relationships, I moved to Istanbul, Turkey, and have been continuously employed at Bilgi University in the capacity of professor since 2007 while also serving as co-chair of the ethics committee, head of the international program for the psychology department, and chair of our dual degree program with Liverpool University.In 2021, I accepted a position as Vice Dean for Undergraduate Students in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. As Vice Dean, my responsibilities include developing programs to promote student success, collaborating with faculty to ensure best practices in teaching are observed, and working on curriculum development and accreditation processes.Most recently, I assumed the position of Department Chair of the Psychology Department at Istanbul Bilgi University. As a professor, I have primarily taught courses in developmental psychology, research methods, and statistics. In addition to my undergraduate teaching responsibilities, I have taught two classes in the Organizational Psychology graduate program and helped supervise theses in the organizational and clinical psychology graduate programs. Before my employment at Bilgi University, I was a visiting assistant professor of psychology at the State University of New York-Oswego. Before that, I was a research and teaching assistant at Syracuse University in the Department of Child and Family Studies.My undergraduate degree (BA) is from the University of Oregon, where I graduated summa cum laude, while my MS and Ph.D. are both from Syracuse University, where I attended on a full academic scholarship.
