I’m a fourth year accounting student at the University of Alberta, graduating in December 2020. I worked in the oilfield for 6 years and choose to leave to pursue a career as a business professional. I developed a hard work ethic and learned that I gained a lot of satisfaction from being able to exceed customer expectations. While working at Packers Plus, our manager was constantly seeking ours staffs inputs on decisions that were being made and he enabled and encouraged us to express our opinions to improve operations. That environment solidified my interest in management and that’s what inspired my choice to go to business school. During my intro accounting course, I knew just a few weeks into it I was interested in potentially pursuing it as a career, I developed an aptitude for it quickly and now I’m set on finishing my degree and pursuing a CPA designation.
