Background
About Ryan Reed
I am a proven teacher and researcher, who excels at communicating complex ideas in understandable ways and mentoring students for personal growth, with 10+ years of experience in education and non-profits and an interdisciplinary doctoral degree on human flourishing. Teaching and communicating ideas gets me excited. I also love working with others to collaboratively complete projects and solve problems. From my experience, evaluations, and the input of others, I have learned that I thrive on learning new things and I am driven to seek out new information to grow in my knowledge of the projects I am working on. Others have commented on my abilities in the areas of teaching, research, and in cultivating personal relationships. I possess strong problem-solving skills and and I am especially skilled at generating new ideas. I also love working toward goals that take time to achieve. I am a strong communicator, with experience writing materials read by thousands of readers and speaking to large groups. CAREER STORY: I began my career by working in the non-profit sector. While completing my master's degree, I served on the staff of two churches and one organization that helped those with developmental disabilities living the kind of lives that they wanted. These positions deeply shaped the person who I am today. As a result of my desire to grow personally and professionally, I began a doctorate at the University of Toronto in 2013 in Theological Studies. Above all, my doctorate taught me three things: how to help students grow, how to find answers to difficult problems, and how to manage a large-scale research project. While earning my doctorate, I also served as a Online Course Developer and Adjunct Professor and served with another organization providing support to those with developmental disabilities. I have received exceptionally high teaching evaluations in my work as a professor. In 2017, I began working as a campus minister/chaplain to Princeton University students. In this role, I led teams and managed projects, led studies of Christian texts, and mentored students to promote their spiritual and emotional well-being. I currently serve as an adjunct professor at Lancaster Bible College. I am incoming Latin Teacher at Logos Academy. Beyond my work, I am also a husband, father, sibling, and friend. I like running, weight training, cooking and baking, reading, and playing and watching sports.
