About Ryan Woods
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture at the University of Georgia. My background lies primarily in metal fabrication and casting techniques as well as the addition of found materials. My apprenticeship in a metal machining shop as well as a custom metal fabrication studio profoundly influenced my style and the way that I approach sculpture. My work often deals with the personal aspects of my life and memories by creating effective representations that express my history to the viewer. I am currently a Supervisor of security and facilities in an academic fine arts museum. My role concerns the handling of staffing for galleries and special events in order to maintain the safety of patrons and works of art in the building. This position has given me knowledge and experience on the inner workings of the museum environment, as well as successful customer relations and staff management. I also work on private art commissions, including painting, drawing, jewelry, and sculpture.
