About Sam Proesmans

I'm a physician and public health expert experienced at three levels: • At the micro-level, I'm working as an attending emergency physician at the E.R. • At the meso-level, I'm working as a deputy chief medical officer. Operationally, I'm responsible for the cluster encompassing critical services (emergency departments, ICUs, nephrology departments), cardio-thoracic unit (cardiology, cardiosurgery and vascular- and thoracic surgery departments) and diagnostics (radiology, nuclear medicine, laboratories, pathology). Strategically, I'm supporting the ongoing merger between two existing hospitals in becoming one of the biggest hospitals in the world with +2.500 beds and personnel. • At the macro-level, I've worked as advisor to the Prime Minister of Belgium during the COVID pandemic, bridging the gap between science and politics via evidence informed policymaking.
