About Samuel Scott

I am the pastor of a large, urban Catholic Church in Danbury with a thriving parochial school that received a citation from the U.S. Department of Education as a 2012 "National Blue Ribbon School." During my pastorate, I initiated a successful capital campaign which raised over one million dollars for capital improvements to our campus, including a new HVAC system for the School and masonry and roof restoration to the church. I have also focused on increasing the number of parish organizations and service opportunities for parishioners and friends of the Parish. The Danbury Council #29 of the Knights of Columbus now meets here weekly in the Buck Parish Center. A Men's Ministry for faith sharing and prayer was formed, as well as a Respect Life Ministry. I have been a pastor now for nearly ten years. Very soon into my first pastorate, I realized that the theology which informed my life as a seminarian was inadequate for addressing the concerns of parishioners, nor was it wholly satisfying for me. My area of theological interest moved, therefore, into spiritual theology, particularly in the formative theology of Father Adrian van Kaam, a Holy Ghost Father and noted author on Catholic spirituality. I am especially interested in the intersection of theology and creativity in the arts and music (cultural formation). Specialties: Parish Administration and Formative Spirituality; as well as music, especially voice, piano and choral music.
