About Sandhya Sukumaran

During a diverse and rewarding career in the fields of public health, veterinary medicine, and epidemiological research spanning almost 27 years, I have had the opportunity to work for the government, national and international NGOs and, international organizations including FAO of the UN, World Bank, and WHO. Leveraging my considerable knowledge and expertise, I have influenced government policy and strategy. I have also been involved in a wide range of program and project management involving several donors and research initiatives in developing countries, both in Asia and Africa involving the networking of stakeholders. My project / program management experience has included strategic planning that commenced right from the initial conceptualization through to local framework analysis, budget preparation and monitoring & evaluation. I have also provided consultation on grant writing for projects on key development issues. I am widely published in the areas of veterinary public health, food and feed safety and am regarded as an expert in my field, with an extensive network of contacts in the veterinary, public health and wider scientific disciplines supported by excellent program and project management, leadership, analytical, and oral and written communication skills.
