About Sandra Janssens

Sandra Janssens is a clinical geneticist working at the University Hospital of Ghent. She graduated at the faculty of Medicine at the University of Ghent in 1996 with summa cum laude. In 2001 she was certified in Pediatrics. Since 2001 she is staff member at the Medical Genetics Department of the University Hospital of Ghent. At the genetics department she is responsible for prenatal diagnosis, preimplantation genetic testing, expanded carrier screening, fetal pathology and gamete donation programs, she is among others specialized in neurofibromatosis, otogenetics and predictive testing for neurodegenerative diseases. She is (co)-author of several articles in national and international journals. In 2016 she received the title of Doctor in Medical and Biomedical Sciences for her thesis on preconceptional carrier screening for heritable disorders at the University of Ghent and The University of Leuven. In 2018 she was certified as clinical geneticist.
