About Sandra Mian

I see food as a global issue, in a holistic way: not only the technical aspects of food product development are important for me but the way people connect with food, what food represents for people of very different backgrounds, social classes, gender, ethnic origins, etc. Food has meanings, symbols, values. Food is culture. To forget this during the crucial steps of food product development is to take too much chances and risks of failure. My motto is:"You are what you eat; you eat what you are". Besides food, I have been studying and consulting in the two other most important "universes" for all human beings: habitat and clothing. As someone that has worked for a long time with home appliances (white line) development, my focus is to understand the relationship of people with the house, the dialectics of house-home and the material culture of the house, mainly in the kitchen and laundry areas. I have also been using social media (mainly Facebook) to capture trends and social behavior in Brazilian and Mexican society.
