Background
About Sara P. Marks
The story of how I got to where I am today is a windy path that mirrored the rolling hills of south eastern Pennsylvania where I was born and raised. I grew up in a rural world turned exburbs seemingly overnight. I watched as the field where the deer fed turned into apartment complexes, I experienced the sound of increased voices joining the cacophony of crickets and cicadas each evening, and as I grew in my teenage years I watched the world around me shift and change as time required it to do so. Change and growth is inevitable and I learned to embrace the ever-changing environment; these changes shaped me, made me who I am and allowed me to understand the utter importance of flexibility, and transformation. This is not unlike businesses and organizations today. Without growth, change, and transformation people and organizations become stagnate. But most people do not have the time or creative energy to think about these things. This is what drove me to pursue my PhD in Organizational Leadership at Eastern University. Coming from a ministry background, I have gained deep insight into what drives a person, the role passion plays in success, and the ways in which community is vital to the transformation of the human soul. All of this is transferable in the business world where people care deeply about the work in which they are engaged. The most important thing I've learned about organizational leadership I learned from being elbows deep in a beehive. There is nothing more inspiring about collaboration than to see the efforts of tens of thousands of bees working for the common good. This image is what drives my work in organizational development and leadership. Like many, the 2020 pandemic brought many changes to my life; among them, Fina (fee-na) Catalysts. I desire to work with people and organizations to help others realize their dreams in concrete and measurable ways. Fina Catalysts was born out of this desire and fed by the entrepreneurial genes handed down to me from the many branches of my family tree that supported small business, blue collar work, and ethical decision making. Family, opportunity, dreams, community—these are driving forces that move me toward my own dreams and my aspiration to work with others to realize theirs!
