About Sean H.

My name is Sean Hollis. I graduated with my Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of South Florida. While perusing my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, I was working as a research assistant at USF. In the near future I plan to further my education in assembly processes and study its impact on product design. During my college career, I have investigated self-assembly of micrometer solar cells at a liquid interface. In my investigation I found the need to automate trial and error to facilitate efficient testing of new ideas; and with this intention I began to research algorithms. With the assistance of the mathematics department I developed an algorithm that capitalized on pattern formation in non-stationary stochastic processes, and stochastic multi-particle systems to explain future events. Upon the completion of my degree, I was investigating additive manufacturing techniques as a means for product development. At the same time during my education, I was working as an intern in the research and development department of a local Tampa company that was named a NASA Spinoff company, which has given me the opportunity to be in close contact with Aspen Aerogels. I have been working to bring researched products to be developed and manufactured, while also writing the instructional manuals that accompanies these products, and making presentations on these products. Specifically, I have been utilizing aerogel insulation technology to break conductive thermal bridging by supporting architects and engineers to increase the overall R-value of a wall by 40%. I also have an expansive knowledge of many software programs.
