Semén is a scientist working in the area of molecular modeling, molecular dynamics simulations, computer-aided drug discovery and scientific software development. Currently he is a Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer in Receptor.AI, an innovative biotech company focused on Artificial Intelligence in drug discovery. He also works as an academic scientist in IOCB Prague. Being an expert in molecular simulations and computational drug evaluation Semén works towards implementing the most advanced and innovative in silico pipeline for drug discovery. He got a PhD in Biophysics in 2005 in Kyiv, Ukraine. After the post-doctoral training in world-leading group in molecular simulations in Groningen, the Netherlands, he got a Doctor of Science (habilitation) degree in 2011. Semén is an inventor of unique techniques of molecular dynamics simulations, including simulations of biological membranes with realistic curvature and asymmetry- Established the role of curvature and asymmetry of lipid composition on permeation of drugs through the lipid membranes- Studied structural changes in the highly curved lipid membranes- Developed methodology of advanced ensemble docking and scanning docking simulations- Proposed new concept of drug selectivity in the case of closely related targets- Developed Pteros and MolAR molecular modeling libraries (https://github.com/yesint/pteros, https://github.com/yesint/molar). The name is pronounced with the emphasis on the second "E": SemEn.
