About Sergio Cavalieri

Sergio Cavalieri is Full Professor at the University of Bergamo and Director of CELS - Research Center on Logistics and After Sales Services. Graduated in Management and Production Engineering at Politecnico of Milano with full grades and PhD at University of Padua. After having gotten his position at the University of Bergamo, he has been appointed to coordinate the research and didactic activities of the Operations Management group. Within the graduate study programme, he has contributed to the development and teaching of the Operations Management, Integrated Logistics Systems, Industrial Plant Engineering, Service Management courses. Regarding post-graduate programmes since 2004, he is Director of the Master in Industrial Maintenance Management at Università degli Studi di Bergamo, jointly held with MIP-Politecnico di Milano. With reference to the research activity related to the after-sales service area, he has been national coordinator and local scientific responsible of the two-year project "ASAP - Advanced logistic and organizational models for the integrated management of the after sales service of durable goods” funded by the Italian Ministry of Research. As a follow-up of the ASAP project, he has also promoted the creation of the ASAP - Service Management Forum - currently made up of 50 associated industrial companies, consultancies and research centres - and coordinated the publication of industrial reports (in the automotive, domestic appliance, consumer electronics and IT). He has been author of 2 books and more than 100 papers, published on national and international journals or presented in conference proceedings. He is member of IFAC – TC 5.1 on Advanced Manufacturing Technology, has been coordinator of a SIG within the IMS (Intelligent Manufacturing Systems) Network of Excellence, former member of the Technical Development Steering Committee of the Supply Chain Council.
