I am Shawn Abela, an Occupational Therapist with over 10 years of experience with a special interest in Oncology and Palliative Care. My career has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals facing significant health challenges. I hold a Master’s Degree in Supportive and Palliative Care from Sheffield Hallam University, where I focused my research and practice on innovative approaches to support patients and their families during critical times. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as the Director of Operations for the Council of Occupational Therapists for the European Countries (COTEC). In this role, I oversee strategic initiatives and collaborate with professionals across Europe to advance the field of occupational therapy. My work is driven by a commitment to fostering excellence in practice, advocating for the profession, and ensuring the highest standards of care. I am passionate about continuing education and professional development, both for myself and my colleagues. My work is grounded in empathy, expertise, and a steadfast commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those I serve.
