About Siddhant Nath

Finance has always been more than just a special interest for me. Additionally, I have a natural affinity for knowledge. Reading, online courses and studying, these are things I take great pleasure in. I studied Economics during my school years and had subjects such as Indian Financial System and Managerial Economics during my undergraduate study. As I learnt more and more, I began to follow finance-related news. The first time I learnt how to calculate tax and tax return, I applied it almost immediately to my mother’s yearly earnings, something that actually helped her get a higher return. I even read books on finance, like The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham, and Fault Lines by Raghuram Rajan.By the time I realized that finance was where I wished to build my career, I had already achieved an under-graduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and was on my way to begin my employment at Infosys. I knew that this meant that at some time in the future, I would need to make a change in career paths. I worked for Infosys for three years and once I felt that I had learnt all that I could, I made the decision to change the industry within which I desired to build a career.My time in Infosys helped me a lot, however. I learnt how to work with a team, how to lead a team and how I could learn from a team of people with a variety of levels of skill. I learnt how to work in an environment that was result and detail-oriented with little to no room for error. I learnt how to communicate with clients, with senior managers and even team members who looked to me as a leader. As a writer, I am naturally creative, which has always helped me think on my feet and solve problems efficiently. But through working in Infosys, I understood how to tackle time-sensitive scenarios and, inevitably, how to deal with failure.Furthermore, during my degree I met people from all over the world and engaged with them during events, some of which I had organised, special interest clubs and societies, and as part of the student leader community at Monash. I volunteered for student organisations that help new students acclimatise to the university, but perhaps my fondest experience is that of being Treasurer for the Monash Creative Writers Club.I am now a postgraduate student in Banking and Finance and I look forward to using everything I have learnt to enter this industry and more importantly, learn even more without ever slowing down.
