About Sikhasmita Dowari

A curious PhD researcher in biology, embarking on a fascinating journey into the world of muscle aging. Besides academics, I love to explore new places and find an appreciation for the beauty of nature place where I often find a connection with the essence of Sufism. whenever possible I bury myself in the pages of a fiction novel because literature enriches me with creative thoughts. The given delicate balance between scientific inquiry and a love for nature and literature keeps my creativity alive and focus sharp within the realm of research. The internship at L.V. Prasad Eye Institute gave me the enriching experience of research into the implications of urban air pollution on dry eye disease and ocular surface microbiota. My interest in environmental science and its interface with health sciences was kindled through this work. My M.Sc. dissertation, which focused on immune profiling and immunomodulation strategies for Fusarium Keratitis in the Ex Vivo Caprine Cornea Model, which really allowed me to dive deep into immunological research. Further, my B.Sc. dissertation which involved the screening and characterization of thermophilic bacteria from the hot springs in Meghalaya for industrial enzyme extraction; further depicts my competence in microbiological research. My technical expertise runs across a wide range of microbiology and molecular biology techniques, thus enabling me to approach scientific challenges with depth and confidence. With scientific pursuits combined with a love of the beauty of nature and a world of literature,I keep my research holistically based on underpinning principles driving creativity and curiosity, which in turn have taken me through an exploration into some of life's big questions.
