Background

About Silvia Costa

Born in Rio de Janeiro, educated in Milan and London, Silvia is a filmmaker fluent in Portuguese, Italian, English, Spanish and French. Silvia developed the concept of the Business Profile, a short business documentary filmed on locations around the world and broadcast on traditional TV Channels (CNBC Europe, EuroNews, History Channel, BBC America and Star TV in Asia) as well as dedicated streaming platforms (Financial Times TV and MarHedge TV). The Business Profile took Silvia to over 70 countries where she interviewed CEOs, CFOs, politicians and key company members who shared the story, or sometimes just the simple idea, behind successful corporations and family businesses. Over 15 years’ experience making documentary films allowed Silvia to witness every aspect of filming, from producing and presenting to directing and editing. There are many specialized trades in documentary filmmaking, such as researching, writing, editing and sound designing to name but a few, for Silvia, as a filmmaker you must wear all those hats without letting any one of them dominate. Filmmaking is a collaborative process, and creating a compelling documentary requires a team of talented and dedicated specialists to help achieve “art with the truth”. In addition to her television expertise, Silvia’s knowledge of Latin America combined with international exposure to a variety of business sectors, has led her to launch two multinationals in Brazil, a Russian oil & gas exploration company and a Swedish manufacturer of agricultural processing plants.
