About Simo Zilling

After finishing my studies in Sports and Sports Science I spent the major part of my professional life at Coboc GmbH and Co KG, an Heidelberg based E-Bike Company. Thanks to it´s Start-Up environment accompanied with varied, seemingly never ending tasks I was supplied with a lot of different experiences. Luckily I was also free to find my own solutions and so I discovered my Interest in Coding.My career path was never really linear and I always enjoyed finding myself in a new and therefore challenging environment. So I did not want to miss the opportunity to explore this new field and decided to give myself some time for trial and error.I curiously dived in to the universe of tutorials for JavaScript based development and ended up creating my first React projects. WebDevelopment seemed to be a good way to go, so I decided to get some real Working experiences.Since I was always attracted by psychology and communication my excitement was not only related to the technical part of Webdesign. I wanted to learn more about the cooperation of machines and Humans. What exactly is Design? How does it work? And how does all this end in my Browser? Reading myself through Books and Websites and of course exploring Youtube and Netflix I eventually lingered with User Experience Design. Wattro GmbH & Co KG provided me the chance to get an Idea about how UX-Design is practically used and I got the chance to work with Vue.js and Figma. My next step was a part time Job at ChocoBRAIN Marketing, where I could consolidate and deepen my knowledge about HTML and CSS. Furthermore using the template language Shopify Liquid helped me gaining a better understanding on how logics are implemented in code.WebDesign was interesting, but not the thing I wanted to stick with, yet. More accidentally than actively looking I heard of Data Science as a Profession. David Kreisel and his Data Mining Projects really got me excited. Studying its components I found a lot of my „I am good at / I like“-boxes checked. Analyzing complex matters, juggling and structuring data, reducing a complex issue to its core and explaining my findings to others and creating and optimizing your own code to solve problems. Just Great!After graduating as a Data Scientist from the WBS Coding School, I now joined the Digital Agentur Heidelberg. Our efforts to support the digitization of both the city of Heidelberg and Stadtwerke give me the opportunity to grow. In doing so, I can support both Heidelberg's smart city concept and the positioning of the energy industry in line with the current challenges.
