My background has mainly been in the Chemical process area with an emphasis on health and Safety.A retained firefighter for 19 years and a process op / shift team leader for 17 years, the two jobs dovetailed perfectly.A change of direction last year brought me to use my previous emergency services experience and I became an emergency care assistant with South Central Ambulance Service.My current role involves being part of a double crewed ambulance responding to calls. Emergency response driving is an integral part of this role and I have undergone extensive advanced driver skills training attaining a BTEC in emergency response driving in the process. I am also a member of IAM, Institute of Advanced Motorists.Working with a registered clinician, my role is to assist in the management of a patients condition by helping to assess, treat and convey. For this I have a FPOS certificate which is the minimum required for my role and have also qualified in emergency medical care with South Central Ambulance Service.
