About Simon Herbert

6 years experience working within Local Government, 4 years as Appeals & Quality Assurance Officer within Council Tax at Aberdeen City Council. Obtained Certificate and Diploma from Institute of Revenues, Ratings and Valuation to become highly skilled within my role. Implemented Quality Assurance framework from scratch (newly created role), creating feedback and improvement system leading to year on year increase in accuracy for staff within the department through training and procedure development. Recently worked with Agilisys to identify and implement Robotic Process Automation within Council Tax & Recovery. Whilst continuing to work full time, attempting to transition career into software engineering. Since 2019, obtained Diploma in IT and started BSc (Hons) in Computing and IT (Software) at Open University and have developed SQL and system management skills using Access, Civica and Capita systems. In my personal time, I have developed multiple apps using Flutter framework and Firebase as well as multiple Python programs - including web-scrape football results and a Formula One career simulator. I'm hugely passionate about progressing my career change and continue to develop my personal and professional skills.
