My current role requires me to provide expert advice and guidance to the public, other department members and colleagues and line managers. To hold specialist knowledge of all relevant legislation including Health and Safety, Food Safety, Imported food, Smoke free legislation and any other Environmental Health legislation and apply the principles of the enforcement concordat, Codes of Practice and enforcement policies to all relevant duties. To acquire and maintain an expert level of knowledge through training, research and experience in-• Criminal legal processes for obtaining and securing evidence from interviews, witnessing and physical evidence. • Statutory environmental legislation including acts of Parliament, Regulations and Codes of Practice covering environmental crime and nuisance.• Tape recorded interviews with suspects.• Technical competence in using digital equipment to gather audio or visual evidence.• Compiling and presenting prosecution files for criminal cases at Magistrates or Crown Court.• Keep precise PACE notebook and other records and procedures to ensure accurate information is accessible to others and maintain the integrity of data. Participate in the accurate, consistent scoring or premises with regards to premises rating and any food award scheme.To carry out Infectious Disease duties.To inspect and monitor ‘Events’ in Thanet including farmers markets.To carry out sampling duties as required, including shellfish.To carry out Port Health duties as required. To carry out zoo licensing inspections and public health licensing management.I lead and specialize in Health and Safety enforcement and I am currently the Kent and Medway Health and Safety group chairman.
