About Simone Pelaracci

I am a licensed Agronomist with a deep passion for sustainability and rural development. After earning my Master’s Degree in Sustainable Rural Development with honors (110/110 cum laude) from the University of Perugia, I obtained my professional license as an Agronomist in July 2020. This achievement inspired me to step beyond academia and immerse myself in the practical challenges of the agricultural sector, gaining hands-on experience and a broader perspective. My professional journey began in a renowned agronomist studio, where I managed PSR practices, conducted territorial analyses with QGIS, and provided strategic consultancy. I later joined a swine farming company as a site assistant manager, overseeing daily operations and streamlining processes to enhance operational efficiency. These roles enriched my practical understanding of the agricultural industry, while sharpening my organizational, problem-solving, and management skills. The pull of research, however, proved irresistible. Returning to academia as a Research Fellow at the University of Perugia, I contributed to the European LIFE IMAGINE project, where I developed strategies for sustainable tourism and biodiversity conservation. My work involved coordinating activities that empowered local communities and enhanced regional sustainability. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD at the University of Perugia, diving deep into the environmental assessment of crop-livestock interactions as part of the European PATHWAYS project. Using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies, my research focuses on identifying and promoting scalable sustainable practices within European agri-food supply chains, addressing the sector’s critical challenges with innovative solutions. With a unique blend of academic and practical experience, I have honed advanced skills in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), agri-food economics, precision agriculture, and project management. I am a results-oriented professional, driven by curiosity and the desire to contribute meaningfully to the sustainable evolution of agricultural and environmental systems.
