Background
About Sofia Kuhn
I work in the area of public insights and engagement where I have become known for my creative thinking, curiosity, and my determination to turn good ideas into reality (even the slightly mad ones). With almost two decades of experience, I’ve built a reputation as an authentic leader who genuinely cares about creating meaningful connections between organisations and the people they exist to serve. A distant past studying animal behaviour, basically watching meerkats cower in their enclosure under the Heathrow flight path at London Zoo, left me with a lifelong fascination for what drives human behaviour too. I’ve always believed that the more we understand the world around us, the better we can make it. That belief has guided my work: helping people make sense of science, feel empowered to engage, and make informed choices about food, health, and the environment. My career took a real turn when I joined EIT Food, where I've been heading up the Public Insights and Engagement team. It was a dream combination for me: using evidence and public insight to inform food systems transformation, while leading projects like the Consumer Observatory, FoodUnfolded, and FoodEducators, all aimed at helping citizens understand and engage to shape the future of food. I’m a big believer that good leadership starts with empathy. I’ve learned that some of the most effective leaders aren’t the loudest in the room, they’re the ones who listen, make space for others, and lead with quiet conviction. As a woman who’s juggled career, family life, and the joys of perimenopause, I care deeply about fairness and inclusion at work. I want workplaces where those experiences are seen, not smoothed over, and where everyone can lead in a way that feels real and human. Language skills: Fluent English and Swedish, conversational Dutch (if talking about the weather is your thing), and a surprisingly good understanding of German (just don't ask me to speak with any grammatical accuracy).
