About Sofia Rodriguez

Over the past 10+ years, I've seen technology from every angle, from running cables and configuring firewalls to explaining HIPAA compliance to C-suite executives. This journey from hands-on technical work to strategic security leadership gives me something rare: an understanding not just of what controls need to be in place, but also of how they actually work in practice. My proudest achievement has been the transformation of our SOC 2 audit process from a 2-week ordeal to a streamlined 3-day process, not by cutting corners, but by building systems that made evidence collection seamless. When I identified the need for HIPAA compliance at my last company, the auditor said:"I was going to suggest this, but thanks for bringing it up first." We completed that attestation with zero exceptions. What drives me is the belief that security shouldn't be a barrier to business growth; it should be an enabler. Whether explaining technical controls to legal teams or building risk management frameworks, I'm always thinking about how to make security work for people, not against them. Originally from Costa Rica and fluent in multiple languages, I also volunteer as VP of Operations for Latinas in Cyber, helping build the next generation of diverse cybersecurity professionals. I am currently pursuing opportunities where I can leverage this blend of technical knowledge and strategic thinking to make security a competitive advantage.
