About Soumaya Abbassi
I have completed both bachelor and Master degrees in Geology from the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis, Tunisia and a PhD degree at Macquarie University, Australia and partly at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam, GFZ - German Research Centre for Geosciences. During the course of my under- and postgraduate studies, I have developed a broad range of fundamental geoscience skills, including but not limited to hydrocarbon potential characterisation, kinetic models for source rocks, 3-D seismic interpretation and petroleum system modelling. I have also gained some very rare and valuable skills in shale formation and diaganesis (petrography) as well as biogeoscience and Rhenium-osmium geochronology. I have examined and learnt about fine-grained sediments, which are topical in the field because they are frontier. I have been also exposed to various aspects geological processes ranging from nanometer to basin scale.
