About Stan Maessen

Stan Maessen is a civil engineer and a specialist on the urban environment with more then 20 years of professional experience in infrastructure, sanitation and waste management in Western & Eastern Europe and Asia. His specialisation includes: programme management, participation and community partnerships; environmental management systems; good governance participation issues for local authorities and civil society strengthening. His professional skills include: planning; program development; coaching; project assessment, planning, monitoring and evaluation; facilitation. training and process skills. Stan is committed to civil society participation in policy formation, operation of rural and urban services, urban and rural upgrading and environmental management. He has more than 10 years of management and executive experience in smaller and bigger programmes. His fields of experience extend to sustainable integrated land, water, and sanitation management, and to environmental law. He has hand-on experience in project implementation involving various stakeholders. Within WASTE Stan coordinated sanitation projects and programmes and was responsible for development and management of all the organization's major sanitation programmes.
