About Stephen Graham

I am an academic senior manager and Professor of Musicology. I currently lead the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences at University College Cork. I previously led the Creative Arts and Media Faculty/Arts and Humanities School at Goldsmiths for five years, and before that, the Music Department at Goldsmiths for three. I spent thirteen years as Senior Lecturer, Lecturer and Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths, Brunel, KCL before taking on management roles. My research focuses on questions of meaning and value in contemporary music, particularly as these open out into wider questions about the textures and tensions of being alive and being in a society. My work as a senior manager has offered me another way into such questions. The rich, challenging, sometimes transformational situations I have experienced as a leader have been fertile ground for creativity and reflection. I try to centre such creativity and reflection in how I approach my role and in how I build relationships with colleagues.
