SUMMARY I’m a cybersecurity veteran. I started as a dirt-under-the-fingernails UNIX security admin and rode the wave of cybersecurity from its early days heading Research at Forrester along the way. Today, I guide CISOs and CIOs and their IT teams to build secure, resilient organizations by developing continual improvement, emotional intelligence, executive presence, masterful communication, and team spirit. BACKGROUND Some of you may know me from my time as VP, Research Director, and industry analyst at Forrester, 4A, and Datos Insights (formerly Aite-Novarica). For the last ten years I’ve been a mix of full-time and part-time researcher, executive coach, and corporate trainer to IT Security teams. My executive coaching and training clients include Fortune 500 financial services firms, FinTech, construction, real estate, and defense contractors – most clients are also members of the Impact Leaders CISO Executive Council (55 CISOs of organizations averaging $46bn revenue), which I run. Here are some other ways I’ve contributed to the cybersecurity industry: ISSA Distinguished Fellow and inductee into ISSA’s Hall of Fame Speaking and supporting organizations in Spanish and French language Working in the White House, the UN, and for four foreign governments (France, Israel, Oman, and Canada) Author of hundreds of papers, magazine bylines, and presentations EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT My wife, Katia, runs Impact Leaders, a coaching and training firm. I work alongside her as executive coach and trainer. I have been coaching CIOs, CISOs, and their direct reports for about 10 years, after a long career of serving as strategic adviser. The main difference now is that my coaching extends to how they show up as confident, collaborative, influential women and men who create impactful relationships with leaders around the organization, rather than limiting my guidance to running an efficient security program. Katia leads pods: 8-week group training over Zoom/Teams for 10-30 team members of the CISO/CIO. I coach the executives.
