About Steve MacKlin

Steve Macklin is a Chartered Engineer (Eng. Council, UK) and Chartered Geologist (Fellow of the Geological Society, London) with over thirty five years experience in the geotechnics and engineering geology of rock and soft ground. He has undertaken geological, rock mechanics and geomorphological investigations, geotechnical interpretation, feasibility assessment, soil and rock support design and specification for instrumentation & monitoring networks. Steve's recent work has been focused on large scale infrastructure and renewable energy/pumped hydro storage (PHES) projects and providing SME advice to developers and state/federal government agencies (e.g. NELP, ARENA). He has also reviewed and written a number of geotechnical baseline reports (GBRs) and provided technical input and expert advice for failure causation studies, insurance claims and contract disputes. Whilst familiar with geological conditions in Australia and New Zealand, Steve has experience in a diverse range of geological environments and has worked in Africa, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico, the Middle East, Russia, and the United Kingdom. This wide-ranging international experience provides a valuable resource when identifying the principal ground hazards and geotechnical factors that may govern design.
