About Steven Gray

From November 2108 I will be working as a Manufacturing Engineer for Mitsubishi Electric in Livingston. I joined Genius Foods in November 2017 as Engineering Project Manager (Fixed-term contract). I was responsible for the Engineering aspects of all projects on the capital plan which involved functional specifications, vendor selection, design reviews and factory acceptance. I also coordinated the installation and commissioning teams on-site to ensure that the project was kept on track and on budget. The capital projects were either a re-design/modification of existing process machinery (Spiral Freezers/Cooling tunnels) or new Processing machinery (Conveyor and packing systems, metal detection/X Ray) for the food industry. I spent 10 years at W.L. Gore & Associates as a Mechanical Design/Project Engineer. My core responsibilities within Gore were to focus on the implementation of equipment for manufacturing and R&D. As a Mechanical Engineer, I provided technical expertise for equipment design, capital projects, and troubleshooting whilst ensuring that manufacturing equipment is safe, reliable, validated, and able to be supported. During the last two years at Gore I had the opportunity to be involved in large-scale machine re-location projects to Asia. I played a critical role in a new manufacturing facility project in Taiwan and was responsible for the delivery of the site ‘start-up’ project from scope to completion. This included functional specifications for building services and manufacturing equipment to make Gore-Tex products, factory design and layout, equipment installation and commissioning. I have experience working within an industrial factory environment focused on lean and just-in-time delivery, providing engineering support and expertise on large-scale lamination, coating and packaging lines.
