About Steven H.

I am driven to respond to the challenge of how people with fundamental differences in identity and worldview can find ways to not only peacefully coexist, but build friendships of trust, strong neighborhoods, thriving communities, and enduring nations. Serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in a community and a country quite different from the US and develop friendships with counterparts holding different faith backgrounds and worldviews than myself. For over four years, I worked with churches in the Middle East to advocate for religious freedom in a region of the world plagued by sectarian conflict. Currently, I am specializing in US policy towards Lebanon, the most ethnically and diverse country in the Middle East, and working towards making that pluralism a sense of strength rather than a source of conflict.
