About Steven Schaefer

As an experienced choral music educator, I have worked with students in grades 1-12 and also served as a Director of Music in churches for over a decade. My strengths include recruitment, program growth, and incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into both the classroom and places of worship. My philosophy of education is rooted in three main pillars: choral performance, inquiry-based learning, and project-based teaching. I believe choral performance is a powerful tool for developing musical abilities and building a sense of community through collaborative work. Inquiry-based learning allows students to explore their interests and take ownership of their learning, while project-based teaching encourages students to apply their skills to real-world problems. In creating a safe supportive learning environment, my goal is to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. By combining these three pillars of education, I strive to provide my students with the tools they need to succeed academically, artistically, and personally.
