About Stuart Hellon

As a highly experienced senior HSE professional, I have gained 25+ years’ experience in high-risk industrial environments worldwide, specifically focusing on onshore/offshore projects, inclusive of ultra-deepwater drilling operations, and construction projects. Thus, I have vast experience and understanding of the principles and operation of HSE practices applicable to the oil/gas/energy and construction industry. I have played an integral role in developing, implementing and monitoring HSE management systems, safe systems of work (SSOW) and permit to work systems, to guarantee compliance across multi-functional, multi-national and multi-cultural project-based teams. I am meticulous in conducting risk assessments, third party audits and work site compliance verification, whilst investigating accidents or incidents, developing control plans and method statements, implementing SMART initiatives and embedding sound risk-based approaches. Using subject matter expertise in HSE, I have acted as a mentor for worksite personnel, sharing my knowledge of accident/incident investigations, hazardous waste management and safe compliant disposal, including Mercury, Asbestos and LSA scale. This has been effective by using excellent communication skills to articulate health & safety issues with all levels of management and workforce to develop a robust health & safety culture. Key areas of my operational expertise include offshore safety process development, HSE audits, SIMOPs control plans, COMAH site compliance, with vast experience working on FPSO, production platforms, drilling rigs and energy recovery facilities.
