About Susan Rottmann

Dr. Susan Rottmann obtained her B.A. degree in Comparative Religion from Cornell University in 2001, her M.A. degree in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006, and her Ph.D. degree in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012. She has received several major research grants, including a Fulbright-Hays DDRA and grants from the Social Science Research Council, the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, the American Research Institute in Turkey and the Institute of Turkish Studies. Dr. Rottmann became an Associate Researcher at the Migration Research Center at Koç University in 2014. Between 2013-2015, she taught courses on research methods, politics, economics and religion in the Sociology Department at Boğaziçi University and in the Anthropology Department at Yeditepe University. Dr. Rottmann’s research specialties are ethics, globalization, migration, transnationalism, gender, religion and politics in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. She has also worked as a consultant for the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) and has run an ESOL and English Conversation Partner Program as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer.
