About Suvi Kangas
I'm a Nutritionist (MSc, PhD) working in the developing country nutrition sector and specialized in the treatment of acute malnutrition. Most of my work has been around the optimisation of the treatment of severe acute malnutrition, both in the private sector and the NGO and academic world. I am currently employed at the IRC, coordinating the operational research and piloting of simplified protocols in the West and Central African regions. In the past I've been managing a research project called MANGO that aimed at testing a reduced RUTF dose in the treatment of SAM. I spent 2 years in the field setting up and supervising the project and then pursued the data analysis and interpretation for the main outcomes of the trial. As a result, I produced 3 peer-reviewed papers as part of my PhD and have continued publishing on this project ever since.
