About Suzanne Checkryn

I am a professional engineer with more than 25 years of project management and corporate leadership experience in the engineering and construction industries. I hold an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, am certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and am a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Throughout my career, I have worked with major firms in the oil and gas sector to complete complex projects on schedule and to overcome significant engineering and construction challenges. Over the years, I have been involved in a variety of integrated industrial projects through engineering leadership and project management roles. More specifically, I have provided technical and project leadership for five multi-billion dollar projects with complex engineering, supply chain, construction, project controls, risk management and change management requirements. My background includes strong business acumen and a high focus on project execution, contract negotiation, commercial management, business development, strategy and corporate governance. In addition to managing construction planning and estimating activities for integrated projects, I also have extensive field experience working with owner companies, engineering firms, construction contractors and vendors. My field experience includes multiple construction management roles, along with a demanding owner’s representative role for an international project requiring substantial changes well into construction.
