I am passionate about moving out the old ways of the way we do ‘inclusion’ and instead I am enthused by looking at fresh approaches to organisational culture so we can learn and be the very BEST at including, embracing and caring for our staff so people feel valued, trusted and understood and will therefore create the most creative and productive workforce possible. Never underestimate emotional intelligence! We need to make people feel valued – they are the ones delivering vital services and holding up the organisation. ‘Non-inclusion’ doesn’t make sense! Decisions made and executed by diverse teams delivered 60% better results and inclusive teams make better business decisions 87% of the time (Forbes 2017) In Britain, we lose £24 billion annually in failing to bring talented Black or minority ethnic professionals into the workforce (Inclusive Employers 2022) I am intrigued by the different diversity and inclusion benchmarking approaches, from process to performance benchmarking. The methodology behind benchmarking is going to determine success or failure so we need to get it right. Ultimately, industries, regions, campaigners and communities create and then serve expectations. Also, a good leader will set their own expectations and lead with integrity and honesty to deliver.
