Background
About Taylor Moore
Taylor Moore is an experienced program manager with 5+ years of progressive experience in grantmaking, program design/execution, and communications for journalism support organizations. She is currently the program specialist for Press Forward Chicago at The Chicago Community Trust, where she manages a $3+ million grant portfolio and shared services focused on sustaining local news in the Chicago region. She previously worked for the International Women’s Media Foundation, where she managed its flagship reporting grant program with a $4 million budget and more than 400 grantees from 60 countries, and oversaw all grantmaking, emergency assistance, fellowship and award programs. She is also an award-winning investigative journalist in Chicago who has written for The Guardian, The New Republic, Columbia Journalism Review, VICE, TIME, Chicago Reader, Block Club Chicago, WBEZ, and many other publications. In 2022, she was part of a Guardian US team that used public water testing data to reveal the depths of Chicago’s lead pipe crisis. The investigation spurred 14 U.S. Senators to call on the EPA to lower the levels of lead allowable in drinking water, require all lead pipes to be replaced in the next decade, and ensure that low-income neighborhoods can benefit equally from the remediation efforts. In 2023, she was a reporting apprentice with the Investigative Project on Race & Equity, where she co-reported an award-winning investigation into racial discrimination in Illinois traffic stops. She is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association, Asian Americans / Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), and Investigative Reporters & Editors, and has served on the Chicago chapter boards of AAJA and the Society of Professional Journalists (Chicago Headline Club). In 2023, she was co-lead for FOIA Fest Boot Camp, a mentorship program for early-career journalists of color interested in investigative journalism.Born in China, she grew up in Orlando, Florida, and graduated from the University of Central Florida.
