Background
About Thibault Derrien
I’m working to become as good as I can at what I love and what life asks of me. There will always be people ahead of us and people learning from us, but the direction stays the same: keep going, keep learning, and keep pushing beyond our own limits. Along the way, influence spreads in different ways. Some people will be inspired. Some will imitate. And sometimes credit won’t land where it “should.” I’m trying to focus on what I can control: translating ideas into action. It’s a skill I’m actively developing—through iteration, feedback, and collaboration. When the path gets hard, it helps to remember that ambition and friction have often been part of progress. Still, I believe we can do better. I’m interested in building a culture where we can pursue excellence while staying generous, stimulating, and kind. If this resonates with you—beyond the taste for technological progress, toward a healthier way of creating — contact me- TJYD started as a scientist in light-matter interaction. He obtained a PhD in Physics at Aix-Marseille University (France) with Prof. T. Itina. After developing further a theory of light-induced nanostructure formation with Dr Jörn Bonse (BAM, Berlin), he obtained a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship in the group of Prof. N. M. Bulgakova (FZU, Prague) to bridge the classical theories of intense laser-matter interaction (Prof. Bulgakova) with time-dependent quantum dynamics [Prof. Angel Rubio (MPSD, Hamburg)]. After having led an international exchange project of the Marie Curie Actions, he is currently leading the group of Ultrafast Photonics @ FZU.cz and of "Quantum Dynamics of Systems"@ Laboratory of Quantum Computing (IT4I.cz). He develops a portfolio of predictive simulation techniques for light-matter interaction both at the classical and quantum levels, looks towards chemistry, biology and quantum computing (Prof. Marek Lampart @ IT4I). As transverse activities, he is also mentoring students and post-docs, has been member of editorial board of Optics Express (Optica) and of international panels (NFFA.eu). He hold a EU patent in laser nanostructuring, published ~35 publications in international scientific journals, is looking forward to modernize the scientific approach and its implementation with keeping human integrity, high ethics and sustainability.
