An IT department in an organization’s sole purpose is to seamlessly assist the organization achieve its goals. Sounds pretty basic, right? Yet in many organizations, this does not seem to be the case. People complain that their IT department does not care, is not responsive, and never really resolves issues. IT is seen as a necessary evil, a cost center, and crisis oriented. Many times, the IT department is looked at as an expensive outside contractor, and does whatever it wants to do. How many times has your IT department come to you and asked what your needs are? When designing systems, do they seek input from affected users? Are new systems or upgrades introduced at the least convenient time? I am a proven IT leader, with a track record of developing IT teams and systems to meet an organization’s needs, to ensure the organization achieves its goals. That’s the way IT is supposed to be, and I make IT happen. I know how to build consensus and get buy in from stakeholders. I know how to bring customer service to the technology world. I bring common sense solutions to today’s complex problems. I implement predictive budgeting and on time projects. I can speak geek, and facilitate communication between IT and their customers…the users. I’ll let you in on a little secret. Most people think that IT is about machines and systems. It really is not. IT is about people! IT is about facilitating understanding between people. IT is about communication. IT’s about giving users the tools they need, when they need them, so that they can be contribute to the organizations success. IT’s about return on investment, mutually beneficial timelines, and being able to see the big picture.
