About Thomas Wescott

I am a Consultant at Kalaco Group, previously known as Air Pollution Services, with approximately 5 years’ experience in environmental consultancy. During this time, I have gained significant experience in air quality assessment, including dust and odour, and have a good knowledge of air pollution science. I currently work as part of an air quality team, giving presentations to my colleagues on current issues, regularly writing plain English reports, communicating directly with clients and contribute to the efficient running of the team. I often work within multi-disciplinary project teams contributing to the design and environmental impact assessment of new developments and understand the importance of communicating clearly with non-specialists. To date my work has focused on air quality assessments to support planning and environmental permit applications, although I have some experience of supporting claims regarding nuisance. I have good experience of dispersion modelling and air quality monitoring, and an understanding of the planning and permitting regimes. I have supported local authorities in preparing air quality annual status reports and air quality action plans. In addition, I have experience in providing indoor air quality plans for new buildings seeking sustainability accreditation under various schemes such as BREEAM, and undertaken indoor air quality assessments under the COSHH regulations for industrial and waste management facilities. More recently I have started gaining experience of greenhouse gas assessments and climate change resilience assessments. Prior to working in environmental consultancy, I completed a BSc in Chemistry at Plymouth University and worked as an Analytical Chemist in the water industry.
