Civil/Environmental engineering professional who has a passion for protecting the environment and developing the circular economy. I have over ten years of experience researching ways to improve the recovery of energy, nutrients, and other valuable by-products from waste organic materials while minimizing trace contaminants and nutrients which can harm the environment. Selected Interests & Experience: • Optimizing anaerobic/aerobic digestion, fermentation, and hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) processes to maximize energy recovery and the destruction organic materials, pathogens, etc. from wastewater, sludge, food waste, and other organic materials. • Evaluating and designing treatments for the destruction of trace levels of antimicrobials, pharmaceuticals, hormones, per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), etc. • Instrumental analysis and analytical method development using HPLC, mass spectrometry, GC-FID, GD-TCD, GC-SCD, particle sizing, zeta potential, respirometry, etc. • Generation of compostable bioplastics from food and agricultural waste. • Monitoring, modelling and mitigation of odours from wastewater treatment. • Management and recovery of nutrients from waste materials. • Development of a carbon-neutral circular economy.
