As the Vice President of K12 Programs at 1EdTech, I assist schools and districts in the adoption of open standards and practices to enable interoperable digital learning ecosystems, and I provide strategic leadership in collaboration with 1EdTech’s K-12 institutional and state department of education members.Formerly, I served as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Digital Learning for Chicago Public Schools where I provided leadership and guidance for teaching and learning through the design and implementation of an equitable districtwide digital curriculum. I have been an educator for 25 years and have taught all grade levels, ESL, and gifted learners.I promote digital learning for transforming classrooms into learning communities with personalized technology tools and content. I am the author of the BYOTNetwork blog and have been featured regarding BYOT in NBC News, EdTech Magazine, eSchool News, Scholastic Administrator, THE Journal and many other news outlets.I have previously provided consultation services to school districts on the implementation of digital learning, and I have presented and conducted workshops for organizations such as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), the K12 Education Congress, and the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI). I have also served on the GA Department of Education Online Advisory Board.I earned my Doctor of Education in Leadership for Learning with a concentration in Instructional Technology, and my research and dissertation focused on designing online learning communities for elementary students. Throughout my career, I have been a vocal advocate for the implementation of instructional technology, digital content, and curriculum in order to increase achievement and motivation, to encourage collaboration, to facilitate critical thinking, and to construct engaging learning environments.
