About Tim Silman

With over 10 years experience in social research, mostly in energy and environmental policy, I'm looking to move into a career in data science. My work to date has ultimately focused on trying to better understand the world through data, which should stand me in good stead, but I've also learned lots of new skills in statistics and programming to support this career change. Having spent time engaged in self-guided learning in how to build function- and object-oriented code in Python and the basics of data wrangling and analysis in Pandas, I'm now enrolled in a Masters in Data Science at City University to help develop my advanced analytical and modelling skills, while working freelance as a social researcher. I'm seeking an internship in data science/ ML/ AI over the summer to put into practice what I've learned and see how these techniques are implemented in the real world. Ideally this would include working on a project that forms my masters dissertation.
