About Tina Chase

As a licensed Marriage and Family therapist since 1983 in California, my psychotherapy practice has included treating adults, couples, young adults, adolescents and children in psychodynamic / relational / attachment-focused psychotherapy. I specialize in transitions which include separation and divorce, including therapy in high conflict families; the birth or death of a family member; issues of infidelity; grief and loss, and feelings of depression and anxiety. My focus has been both to help understand the underlying causes of pain and how the therapeutic relationship can be an agent for change and transformation. A specialty has become working with multi-generational families, where similar emotional struggles may reemerge and repeat, while at the same time trying to master old feelings or behaviors that have been inhibiting to well-being and psychological growth. With a breadth of experience over these many years, it has been apparent that while the process of divorce can become mired in pain, loss, anger, disappointment and sorrow, it can also be an opportunity for growth as families begin to face their next chapter in life. As a co-founder of the Collaborative Divorce Association of the Capital District (Albany, NY), I became a collaborative coach using the collaborative practice model to assist couples going through this emotionally challenging process with dignity, caring, respect and transparency. Currently, I am an emeritus collaborative coach with Golden Gate Collaborative Practice.
